Amritsar International Airport Renamed After Guru Ram Das

Sri Guru Ram Das Ji International Airport

India's Union Cabinet on Thursday, November 4, 2010, decided to rename Amritsar's International Airport to Sri Guru Ram Das Ji International Airport.

Guru Ram Das was the Fourth of the Ten  living Gurus of the Sikhs and was the founder of Amritsar.
The Airport Authority of India (AAI) operates and manages the airport, which is suitable for operations of large aircraft like Boeing 767 and Jumbo B747 in all-weather conditions.
Plans are also afoot to rename the airport in Chandigarh, Punjab after Shaheed-e-Azam Sardar Bhagat Singh.
