Ravinder Singh Bhalla-Chairman of the Hoboken Democratic Party

Ravinder Singh Bhalla
Ravinder Singh Bhalla was born and raised in New Jersey. As the son of immigrant parents, Ravi learned the value of hard work and a good education. He is a product of New Jersey public schools, where his diligent studies led him to the University of California at Berkley.
Ravi later pursued a Masters Degree from the London School of Economics in Public Policy and Public Administration and a law degree from Tulane University. Afterwards, he moved to Hoboken, NJ where he has lived for over a decade with his wife, Navneet, and his daughter, Arza.
Ravi started his own law practice, with offices in downtown Jersey City and Newark. Because of his stellar reputation, he was asked to serve in 2007 as the Tenant Advocate Attorney for Union City, where he served under Mayor Brian Stack. Ravi worked hard to defend the rights of tenants in court and protect them from unlawful evictions and poor living conditions. In recognition of his skills as an attorney, Ravi Bhalla was recently named a “Rising Star” by the New Jersey Superlawyers Magazine.
In 2008, Ravi was inspired by the Obama campaign to take a stand and try to make a difference in his neighborhood, so he ran for Democratic Committee in his local community. The following year, Ravi Bhalla was elected to the Hoboken City Council with the most votes of any candidate on a platform of reform and fiscal responsibility.
He currently serves as an at-large Councilman in Hoboken as well as the Chairman of the Hoboken Democratic Party. He is a member in good standing of a number of legal associations, including the Hudson County Bar Association, Essex County Bar Association, South Asian American Bar Association, Asian Pacific American Legal Association, and the National Employment Lawyers Association. Ravi Bhalla is also a charter member of the Hudson County Jaycees.
